据甘肃省福彩中心机房检索，中得2006053期一等奖的彩票是在兰州62012672号投注站售出的，该投注站位于兰州市城关区民主东路168号。检索结果还显示，这位幸运彩民是在5月9日18时37分牗双色球的停售时间为18时50分牘购买的彩票，如果再晚13分钟，他将与500万擦肩而过。
进入2006年，甘肃省彩民对双色球的投注感觉越来越好，1月8日第2006004期，平凉静宁彩民以一张14元的7＋1自选号码复式票中得1注一等奖，总奖金501.8万元；1月17日第2006008期，张掖市山丹县彩民以一张168元的9＋1自选号码复式票中得1注一等奖，总奖金506.3万元；2月5日第2006013期，张掖市彩民又以一张6元的单式票中得1注一等奖；2月9日晚开奖的双色球第2006015期，酒泉市彩民中得1注500万。相隔整整3个月，5月9日，兰州彩民以一张2元的单式票收获1注500万。
